Jingle Cross to Kick Off 2019/20 World Cup!

Jingle Cross to Host Opening Round of the 2019/20 Telenet UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup

Jingle Cross is excited to announce that it will be hosting the opening round of the 2019/20 Telenet UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup. Held on September 13-15, 2019, in Iowa City, Iowa, Jingle Cross will kick off the elite race series spanning North America and Europe. A non-profit organization, Jingle Cross benefits the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital and is world renowned for is demanding course, fun atmosphere, amateur racing and local hospitality. Awarded best Cyclocross World Cup of the 2017/18 season, Jingle Cross aims to again be the keystone event in the Telenet UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup.

“I am over the moon excited that Jingle Cross is back on the World Cup schedule for the 2019/2020 season,” said last year’s Women’s Iowa City World Cup winner Kaitie Keough. “Jingle Cross is one of my favorite courses on the World Cup circuit. The course is unique with a bit of everything – hard climbs, tough running sections, challenging technical sections, flat power sections, sand and the best spectators racers will find! Taking my first UCI CX World Cup win in 2018 at Jingle Cross, in front of all my family and friends was a dream come true. From wearing my helmet on the podium for the Cat 4 women’s race back in 2009 to winning a World Cup ten years later, I’ve come full circle at this event, and Jingle Cross truly holds a special place in my heart. I can’t wait for the 2019 edition!”

In addition to the World Cup races, there will be three full days of amateur races, product expo, local vendors along with activities for the entire family. Highlight activities include Doggy Cross, Grinch’s Kids Race, Beers and Gears and Junior Devo Cup. Packed with fun, Jingle Cross delivers three days of action and excitement.

It is excellent for the cycling community and the continued growth of cyclo-cross in North America. It is the fourth year in a row that Jingle Cross has hosted a World Cup, and it’s a testament to the hard work of everyone at Jingle Cross, the volunteers and the people of Iowa City. It is special to have the best riders in the world return year after year, be part of the local cycling community and contribute to our mission of supporting the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.”

Based in the heart of the Mid-West, Iowa City has embraced Jingle Cross with fans and local businesses coming out to support the event in large numbers. Away from the race-course Iowa City provides everything from boutique stores to craft breweries, museums and farm-to-table restaurants. Also, the town prides itself on being bicycle friendly with great riding and beautiful scenery.
